POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE: Director

 

REPORTS TO: CWA Board of Operating Officers.

 

POSITION PURPOSE

·         Lead responsibility for managing the Associations day to day business activities that include fiscal accounting, personnel management, grant development and contract management, marketing and product development, business relationships and public outreach.

·         Most importantly, the Director must be adept at small business management and marketing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Supervise administrative staff to ensure maximum efficiency and high quality performance.

·         Supervises the Office/Business Manager, Monitoring/Outreach Specialist and Program/Project Manager.

·         Identify customer needs and business opportunities and work with the CWA staff and Board of Operating Officers to develop appropriate products.

·         Develop marketing strategies, promote product offerings, conduct client visits, and establish

referral relationships.

·         Negotiate the terms of contracts.

·         Develop and write grants.

·         Manage relationships with a wide array of entities including local, state and federal

government agencies, private timberland owners, tribal entities, sub-contractors.

·         Develop and monitor the CWA operation budget.

·         Review and adjust the CWA business plan as needed.

·         Ensure compliance with all financial and contract reporting requirements.

·         Develop operating policies and procedures.

·         Train staff to perform duties within existing position descriptions.

·         Share information and knowledge with watershed industry colleagues to enhance the

knowledge base and productivity of restoration enterprises across the industry.

·         Develop and implement strategic outreach and education plans.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree, four years college, or equivalent experience.

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

Relevant work experience, with specific emphasis in small business management.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·         Demonstrated initiative to identify projects, tasks, or other activities that will further the organization’s goals, obtain an appropriate level of support and complete the activity in a timely manner.

·         Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and firm understanding of contract principles.

·         Understanding of the principles of watershed restoration work in western Oregon.

·         Experience working in a nonprofit environment.

·         Demonstrated ability to develop and write successful grants.
