Small culvert, easily plugged by beavers, caused water to back up and road to wash out.
|
Insufficient drainage away from road caused gullies to form, eroding more soil.

Roads and landings, even in upland areas, if not maintained properly, can be a major source of sediment lower in the watershed due to eroding cutbanks, slides, insufficient culverts / drainage, and compacted soil. The Coquille Watershed Association conducts Road and Landing Surveys in sub-basins of the watershed in order to rank problem areas and prioritize projects for implementation. The Coquille Watershed Association assists landowners with improved maintainance and/or decommisioning roads, landings and associatied culverts in such a way that reduces thier negative impact on water quality and fish habitat. |
