This was the first project in the Bear Creek cluster of projects. It consisted of fencing approximately 8000 feet of Bear Creek, on both sides. The land was being used for livestock grazing (llamas, cattle and draft horses). The draft horses were causing heavy bank erosion and there were many sites where the animals were getting into the creek, causing sediment and increases in nutrient loading. The existing riparian area consisted mainly of willows. The CWA interplanted some spruce and other hardwoods such as alder, myrtle, maple and ash. Erosion areas were also seeded and replanted. The water system consisted of nose-pumps, which all livestock used, including the llamas.
