Bear Creek Riparian Project

This short project is located between two previously completed projects on Bear Creek and thus completed a large fencing section of Bear Creek. Approximately .17 miles (900 feet) of fence was constructed to complete this project. The fence was five strand barbed wire with one stock tank. The site is used for cattle grazing and hay production. The average setback was 15 feet with a minimum of 10 feet. The average bank width within the project area is 10 feet with an average channel width of 15 feet. The average bank height is 5 feet throughout the project reach. The fence was constructed on the both sides of the creek. This project had a poor established riparian zone consisting of mostly willow and grass. The area was planted during the winter of 2002 with a mixture A mixture of hardwoods and conifers native to the area The landowner assisted by clearing the some of the fence line of brush prior to fence construction, and will complete all needed maintenance of the fence and water system.
