This project was located at the mouth of Bear Creek as well as part of the Mainstem Coquille River. The project consisted of completing 6500 feet of 5 strand barbed wire along lower Bear Creek as well as 2000 feet (total of 1.6 miles) along the Mainstem Coquille River. The average set-back for this project was 25 feet. The project area is used for year round beef cattle grazing and hay production. The landowner used his existing water system and upgraded it himself to fit the project needs. The stream is heavily influenced by tides at this project site. The average bank height is 10 feet at low tide, and the average bank width is 20 feet. Bear Creek is not tide-gated. Because of this, only trees were planted that would survive the brackish water. These trees included Spruce, Willow and Myrtle. The landowner agreed to complete all fence and water system maintenance, as well as help recruit some of his neighbors to complete fencing projects on their property as well.
