This project consisted of constructing 12,000 (2.27 miles) of barbed wire fence along both sides of Bear Creek . The average set back for this project was 30 feet. The site is currently used as year-round cattle grazing and summer hay production. The riparian area consisted of some hardwoods with a few scattered conifers. The bulk of the riparian area consisted of grass and blackberry cover. Furthermore, there are several unstable, eroding banks within the project area. These sites were treated with willow plantings along the lower bank. Bear Creek’s channel width at the project site is approximately 15 feet with an average depth of 8 feet. The stream bank height is on average 3 feet throughout the project area. This project will be maintained (tree maintenance) by the CWA inmate crew, and the landowner agreed to do all fence and water system maintenance for the life of the project.
