Building nose-pump facility (1997 previous project)

This site is located on river mile 24 of the Mainstem Coquille River. This project constructed 2421 feet of 5 strand barbed wire along the Mainstem Coquille River. This was a unique project in that it was an old project completed in 1994. The property was sold, and the new landowner wanted to continue the project but felt the riparian set-backs could be improved. There was already a water system in place that consisted of three nose-pumps. The set back was moved back approximately 40 feet form the original fence; making the average set-back now 60 feet. The new owner also wanted more trees planted (trees were planted in 1994 by ODFW, as part of the original project). The CWA used the inmate crew to build the fence and most of the materials were salvaged from the old fence for construction of the new one. The landowner did all site prep as well as any needed upgrades to the existing water system. The new fence was completed in May of 2001 and was planted with a mixture of mostly hardwoods (due to the area being flood prone) and some spruce. This project had a very minimal cost due to the salvage of the old materials and the use of the inmate crew of construction.
